The Kenya Meteorological Department has forecasted a reduction in rainfall across many parts of the country this week, though some regions will still experience occasional showers.

According to the department, the forecast covers the period from Tuesday, April 1, to Monday, April 7, 2025.

Daytime temperatures are expected to exceed 30°C in the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western regions, while night-time temperatures may drop below 10°C in parts of the Central Highlands and the Central Rift Valley.

In the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, and Rift Valley, mornings may have light rains, followed by afternoon showers and thunderstorms in some areas, with night showers expected in a few places.

The affected counties include Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot.

The North-western region, covering Turkana and Samburu counties, will experience sunny intervals in the mornings and afternoons, with partly cloudy nights.

In the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi County, cloudy mornings will be followed by sunny intervals, with afternoon and night showers expected in some areas.

Affected counties in this region include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi.

The North-eastern region, which includes Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, will have morning rains, afternoon showers, and partly cloudy nights.

The South-eastern lowlands, covering Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, and inland Tana River counties, will experience sunny intervals during the day, with showers in the afternoon and partly cloudy nights.

Meanwhile, the Coastal region—including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and coastal parts of Tana River County, will have showers throughout the day and night.

Last week, several parts of the country continued to receive rainfall, with isolated heavy downpours recorded in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, South-eastern lowlands, Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya.
